Arrive at the scenic area gate before 7:00 to avoid peak crowds. Take the scenic shuttle bus directly to Red Stone Gorge.
Tip: Light is best at Red Stone Gorge before 8:00, with fewer people for photos — the golden window for great shots.

In-Depth Tour of Red Stone Gorge (2.5 hours)
Walk down along the canyon boardwalk, passing Bailong Pool, Huanglong Waterfall, Heilong Cave, and Yixian Tian (Thread of Sky). After exiting the canyon, ascend to Zifang Lake.

Zifang Lake + Tanpu Gorge Entrance
Brief stop for photos at Zifang Lake, then take the shuttle to the Tanpu Gorge entrance.
11:30 - 13:00
Tanpu Gorge Tour (1.5 hours)
A spring every three steps and a waterfall every five, with highlights including the Y-shaped Waterfall and Bulao Spring. Lunch is available near the Tanpu Gorge exit.
Lunch: Farmhouse restaurant in the Anshang service area, 40-60 yuan per person; recommended: Henan braised noodles with Daokou roasted chicken.

Zhuyu Peak Climb (3 hours)
Take the shuttle to the Zhuyu Peak cable car lower station; the cable car up (saves energy) is recommended, then walk to the summit for the sea of clouds. The Glass Walkway can be taken on the way down.
Zhuyu Peak cable car: 65 yuan one way, 120 yuan round trip — the round-trip cable car is strongly recommended.

Stroll leisurely through Tanpu Gorge and enjoy the serenity of a spring every three steps. Macaque shows can be seen at the exit.

Take the cable car up, walk to the Zhuyu Peak summit, and enjoy the poetic scene of Wang Wei's verse "A lonely stranger in a foreign land." On clear days, a sea of clouds can be seen.

Glass Walkway
Fenghuang Ridge Glass Walkway, at an altitude of 1080 meters — a thrilling experience. Separate tickets required: 20 yuan + 5 yuan for shoe covers.

Mountain-top restaurant or descend to the service area for a meal.

Make your Yuntaishan trip smoother

Best Entry Time

Entering between 7:30-8:30 is best, avoiding the 9-10 crowd peak. Light is best at Red Stone Gorge before 8:00.

Shuttle Bus Tips

The scenic shuttle bus ticket is mandatory (included with the Annual Pass) and allows unlimited rides between attractions. Note the last bus at 17:30.

Dining Arrangements

Dine before 11:30 or after 13:30 to avoid peak times. The Anshang service area has the most options, 40-60 yuan per person.

Rainy-Day Alternatives

Tanpu Gorge is more beautiful in light rain, but the Glass Walkway / cable car may suspend operation. Check the weather page is recommended.

Photo Times

Red Stone Gorge 8-10 AM, sea of clouds at Zhuyu Peak 4-6 PM, Tanpu Gorge any time of day.
